Dua Lipa, an English artist and singer was born in London on the 22nd of August 1995. The self-titled debut album was released in 2017 after she had signed with Warner Bros Records. The album reached the top spot at No. three on the U.K. Charts. The album had eight singles that were released, including Be the One I.D.G.A.F. as well as New Rules. In the United States it peaked as sixth in the charts. Lipa was awarded the Brit Awards in 2018 as a British Female Solo Artist and British Breakthrough Act, and her album has been certified as platinum across several countries around the world. She is the daughter of Kosovo Albanian parents Anesa Rexha and Dukagjin Lipa. Dua Lipa is Bosnian descent through her maternal grandmother. It is also possible to trace her ancestry to Peja from Kosovo. Her grandfathers were historians as well. She is a sister to Rina Lipa, and has one younger brother, named Gjin. Lipa was musically influenced by her father, who is also the lead guitarist and singer for The Kosovan the group Oda. In the family, her father would continue to play music including his original compositions as well as songs from David Bowie Bob Dylan Radiohead Sting The Police and Stereophonics. Lipa began singing when she was just five years old. When she was nine, she began to learn how to sing. Lipa was featured on the hit song If I'm Gone You from Alicia Keys, and Beautiful Christina Aguilera. Lipa was signed to Warner Bros. Records a contract in the year 2014. Her debut song New Love was released on August 15, 2015.
